  Cool hostel. Bit expensive but common price in Darwin. It's a party hostel so if you are looking for something quiet, this might not be your place. Amenities and beds pretty alright.

  Preferred staying in Youth Shack compared to Malaleuca. Much more peaceful and had more chill out areas other than rock solid benches that Malaleuca had. Dorm rooms are cheaper but prices for double rooms increased to $75 per night due to the season, otherwise they are normally $65. Kitchen area is open plan which was refreshing compared to the heatwave you experience with blocked off kitchens in other hostels. Staff were friendly and rooms were cleaned daily. Girls bathroom is not the greatest but it is a hostel, it was alright for a weeks stay. We found the people staying in Youth Shack were friendlier and very few party party people. They have DJs playing when it's close to the weekend compared to booming dance tunes starting from lunchtime til the early hours of the morning.

  In seriousness, though, the rooms are on the subpar range of par-for-hostels. Our tv was broken and everything else was dirty. Don't stay here if you want a solid rest as the building straddles two rowdy pubs that don't quiet down. The average age of the guests we stayed with we're early 20's, or 30-somethings who didn't get the memo.

  Do you miss the college residence feel of being woken by a fire alarm, evacuated by drunk or stoned staff, and waiting around for an hour or so to find out some dingle berry was smoking in their room?

  Amazing hostel right in Darwin Cbd. There's a pool, a bar, a sundeck and so much more. They have free food for one drink bought deals nearly every night! The rooms and amenities are really clean and the staff friendly! If you're looking for party or just a quite relaxing time this place has it!
