  Camper was not very clean when we picked up. Dirty dishes and sheets. Rate was reasonable but all the extra costs where not. $75 cleaning fee even though we left it cleaner than we got it. $25 for a tank of LP we barely used. Credit card surcharge on a bond makes no sense unless money actually comes of the card.

  We booked online, completed pre-registration and purchased the value package to 'save time and hassle'. We rang in the morning to make sure we could pick up early. Still had to wait over an hour while the sole rep worked his way through the queue of people waiting to pick up. Other staff arrived at 9 am so the queue moved faster but the process took almost 2 hours. We were still asked to pay for more extras such as tyre and windscreen insurance, toilet chemicals, cleaning and fuel, none of which were listed online. The Apollo fleet is good quality but the Cheapa option uses older vehicles from their fleet so expect some minor damage and faulty fittings. Some things needed attention before we would accept our vehicle. Our overall experience was ok but expect a long wait on both pick up and return.

  After reading most of these reviews, I was worried I'd made a mistake in booking an Apollo Camper from Darwin, but I couldn't have had a better experience. The service staff were excellent, the van was new and clean (as was the bedding) and I believe the price was value for money. There was even a table in the office where previous travelers had left behind food stuffs for others to take. Thanks Apollo Darwin!

  Awful staff using scare tactics with foreign visitors. As locals we knew better but it was sad to see the girls trying to terrify young travellers into excessive insurance extras. Dirty vans, unclean cutlery and utensils, cigarette burns in the beds in the vans, seals hanging off the fridges so food goes to waste, broken Bluetooth and USB. Pick another company.

  Pretty terrible service. We got a faulty camper which had to put into a car repair shop for a week right after we started our trip. During that time we were put into a hotel and just had to wait. After the trip these guys refused to give us any money back because they had paid for our hotel while waiting and argued that that was enough to make up for it, even though most of our holiday was wasted on nothing.
